Fred Karush Endowed Library Readership
(DEADLINE: 15 February annually)

The Karush family has established an MBLWHOI Library Readership in Fred Karush's memory for qualifying scientists. This fund provides the fees for desk rental and full privileges in the MBLWHOI Library on a monthly basis, each summer. Download a PDF copy of the application.

Mary Sears Endowed Visitor Program
(DEADLINE: 1 March annually)

The Mary Sears Endowed Visitor Program was established by a bequest from Mary Sears. It was her intention to provide an exchange of "information about oceanography to nations where it is not otherwise available". Awards will provide funds for travel, living expenses, laboratory space and equipment for scientists, technicians, and librarians visiting WHOI.

Please prepare a one-page description of the project you propose to undertake with our library staff.
  • What skills will you bring to the project?
  • What skills might you hope to gain from the project?
  • What are the best dates for this internship? (dates must be September 2005 through May 2006; no internships possible during June, July, August).
  • Proposed budget (note that the award may be applied to your travel, housing, meals & incidentals--you will be responsible for all additional costs associated with your internship).
  • Please include a copy of your curriculum vitae.

We must receive your proposal no later than October 1.

The successful recipient will be expected to submit a written report about the experience to MBLWHOI Library and to present a paper about the experience at an IAMSLIC annual conference or IAMSLIC regional group meeting.
