Course Reserves, E-Reserves & Course Packs

Course Reserves

If you would like to set a collection of books aside for a Course Reserve Shelf, please contact library [at] mbl [dot] edu (subject: Course%20Reserves)

E-reserves (web accessible library reserves)

If you would like to set up library e-reserves that are accessible over the Web 24/7, the Library can help. We set up a password protected e-reserves site and will seek a license to digitize items and post them to this site.

  1. Bring the materials to the MBL Digital Processing Center that need to be digitized; provide URLs and complete citations for items already in electronic format
  2. Complete a work order and provide us with the following information:
  • Course name
  • Course Director's name
  • Course account number
  • Number of students in the class
  • Dates of desired use

Course Packs

If you would like to create course packs that include copyrighted materials (such as a collection of book chapters and journal articles) you must:

  1. Bring high quality originals/copies of the materials to the MBL Digital Processing Center
  2. Complete a work order and provide us with the following information:
  • Course name
  • Course Director’s name
  • Course account number
  • Number of students & faculty to receive course pack
  • Dates of desired use

We will obtain permissions and process royalty payments for approved use (fees vary—some publishers say ok, others charge small or high fees)
