Long time MBLWHOI Library staff members Lisa Raymond of WHOI and Diane Rielinger of MBL are newly serving as the Co-Directors of the MBLWHOI Library.
Lisa Raymond most recently has been the Associate Library Director, and Data Library and Archives Manager/WHOI Archives, and Diane Rielinger has most recently been the Assistant Library Director and Head Archivist/MBL.
This is a bold new path for the MBLWHOI Library, as the Library Director role has historically been a single individual. It is an accurate reflection of the cooperation WHOI and MBL have engaged in essentially since the founding of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in 1930 that the Library now is governed by Co-directors. This relationship is regularly recognized as an international model for sustainable library cooperation, as shared resources and staff enable the Library to service the MBL and WHOI Scientific Community in a professional and efficient manner.
