MBLWHOI Librarians to LIVERPOOL UK for IODE/SCOR/MBLWHOI UNESCO Data Management Workshop

This week Library Director Dr. Holly Miller, Associate Librarian Lisa Raymond, and Library Scholar Cathy Norton join information scientists from 5 countries at the Fourth SCOR/IODE/MBL WHOI Workshop on Data Citation at the British Oceanographic Data Centre in Liverpool, England.

The programme "International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange" (IODE) of the "Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission" (IOC) of UNESCO was established in 1961. Its purpose is  to enhance marine research, exploitation and development, by facilitating the exchange of oceanographic data and information between participating Member States, and by meeting the needs of users for data and information products.

One of the programs during the workshop will be a report on Woods Hole data publication activities with Elsevier and BCO-DMO (Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office of NSF) by Lisa Raymond of the MBLWHOI Library and Cyndy Chandler of WHOI. This workshop continues the work of the previous SCOR/IODE/MBLWHOI workshop held in Paris Farnace in the Spring of 2010.
